Swimming Programs

Red (6-24 months):

Parent and child work together in a water environment, building a foundation that will contribute to the learning of swimming skills as the children grow older. By using songs, games, and colorful water toys, our swim instructors introduce basic water skills, floating, breath control and gentle underwater submersions. Parent and child learn water safety skills and other special challenges dealing with the water. A fun, positive, and safe environment provides an opportunity for child and adult to play and learn together. Limit 8 per class.

Purple (24-36 months):

For babies who have enough water experience to leave the parent in the water. Parents will be on the pool deck observing the class for safety purposes, while the instructor will work with each child on independent swimming skills such as breath control, submersion, kicking, back floating and rolling from tummy to back.

Green (3-4 year old beginners):

This class is for beginner swimmers who have a mild to intense fear of the water and little to no experience with swimming instruction. Safety strategies will be a large part of this class as well as proper breathing and kicking techniques.

Goal: Become comfortable in the water while improving breath control and learning basic kicking and floating (rolling from front to back) techniques. Establish awareness of pool safety strategies.

Yellow (3-4 year old's with experience):

This class is for preschool aged children who are confident in the water. These swimmers will work on proper breath control and kicking techniques, as well as underwater swimming, floating, gliding, and safety strategies. Once these swimmers have mastered swimming across a full station without assistance using the proper kicking and breathing techniques, front stroke instruction will be included as well as flutter kicking on the back.

Goal: Develop basic swimming skills including breathing, gliding, kicking, floating (rolling from front to back) and general pool safety. Once these skills are accomplished swimmers will work toward swimming the front stroke for the length of 2 stations, mastering flutter kicks, and learning basic dives and side breathing.
